What should never be missing in your daily work?
The daily exchange with colleagues – not just on professional matters, but also on a personal level. It helps you stay connected across units, pick up on interesting developments, and gain insights that support your own work.
How did you become part of the Brüning Group?
After finishing my A-levels, I completed two long-term internships in the construction sector – both at a planning office and at a bricklaying firm. I really enjoyed both roles and initially planned to pursue a career in that field. However, after some time, I realised that studying wasn’t the right path for me at that point. I had already been familiar with the Brüning Group from growing up in Fischerhude. Through acquaintances, I was given the opportunity to do an internship here. The work – and especially the working environment and company culture – convinced me straight away, and I’ve been part of the team ever since.
What is your secret tip for successful teamwork?
Being honest and open with one another, and being able to rely on each other. Regular communication is essential – whether it’s sharing new ideas, discussing projects, or simply asking for advice. And, of course, a good joke along the way never goes amiss 😉
Is there a skill or talent that you have discovered through your work here that you didn’t know about before?
Definitely: making phone calls. Before I started at the Brüning Group, that was probably the last thing I would have done voluntarily. My first call came sooner than expected – during my internship, when I was asked to “quickly” sell some bark. Now I actually enjoy it, and I’ve realised that many things can be handled much faster over the phone than by email. It also helps you build a completely different kind of connection with business partners.
If you could swap your job for another one for a day, which one would it be and why?
To be honest, there isn’t much I’d rather do. Because of my personal connection to agriculture, I enjoy the agribusiness side of things the most. Even now, being an exhibitor at the Tarmstedt Exhibition – where I used to be a visitor myself – feels quite special. In general, I find operational roles more exciting. If I had to choose, I’d probably spend a day in our own logistics unit – simply to gain a better understanding of the processes. And I reckon it’s guaranteed never to be boring with the colleagues there.
