ENABLING A GREENER LIME INDUSTRY

Last month, Vienna was not only a meeting place for key players in the lime industry, but above all place of momentum: On the 12th and 13th of June 2025, the members of the Federal Association of the German Lime Industry (Bundesverband der Deutschen Kalkindustrie e. V., BVK) gathered for their annual general meeting to discuss nothing less than the future of the entire industry – a future in which climate neutrality is no longer a vision, but a mission with a clear roadmap. As a new supporting member of the BVK, the Brüning Group was part of the official meeting and was introduced to the other guests as part of the programme. Represented by Svenja Bätz and Marc Gaber from Business Development Management, we took the opportunity to exchange ideas with industry representatives and jointly initiate new impetus.

NEXT STOP: CLIMATE NEUTRALITY

In addition to the association’s core agenda items, the topic of biomass also came into focus. Linked to this is the goal of climate-neutral lime production by 2045. This ambitious course requires a far-reaching transformation through the gradual phase-out of fossil fuels. Biogenic fuels are increasingly gaining in importance and are becoming an integral part of future supply concepts. During conversations on site, it became clear that interest in renewable energy sources is growing steadily and that fuel substitution has long been part of strategic planning. In other words: biomass is here to stay.

YOUR PARTNER FOR LOW-FOSSIL PRODUCTION

As a strategic partner for sustainable fuel supply, the Brüning Group brings its many years of expertise to bear in the transformation of the lime industry. With a diverse portfolio of biogenic fuels, an efficient network in Germany and Europe, as well as our own logistics and certification expertise, we support energy-intensive companies on their path to low-fossil production. The discussions in Vienna highlighted the growing need for exactly those kinds of players who not only supply, but also contribute ideas, shape solutions, and act with responsibility.

A NETWORK FOR TRANSFORMATION

Participating in the BVK’s annual meeting once again underlined how vital interdisciplinary cooperation is in times of change. We are therefore already working on ideas for deepening this dialogue in the future. Our aim is to create a reliable foundation with partners from industry, technology, and regulation – a foundation on which climate protection, economic viability, and security of supply can be considered together. Many thanks to the BVK for the productive exchange! We are looking forward to continued collaboration for a greener future.
